ABOUT
This is our story of adoption. I’m
Kristen, and this is my husband Cody. We
started this journey two years ago when we brought home our very special daughter,
Mae, from China. Cody and I have been so
blessed to have Mae in our lives, and God continues to show his love to our
family through the joys that we find in this little Chinese girl who has stolen
our hearts. Mae was 20 months old when
we brought her home, and she is now almost four years old (!). We always knew that we wanted to grow our
family. In fact, that was Cody’s request
when we started the adoption process for Mae—he wanted a family where our kids
would find companions in their siblings.
Boy is Mae in for companionship! Cody and I started the adoption process
again in November 2012, only this time, we are bringing home TWO babies. Our little boy, Ian, just turned two years
old, and Jovie, our sweet baby girl, is 16 months. Ian and
Jovie are still in China, and we are waiting for the day we
catch a plane and unite our family (our estimates put our timeline to
around October of this year). Cody and I made the commitment to adopt
special needs babies, so all of our kids have different degrees of
health
needs. Our baby girl has the most
significant special need; she needs open heart surgery as soon as possible for
her to sustain life. We are trying our
best to have our adoption expedited for her—it's a hard road of paperwork and
waiting and praying on our knees. We have no choice but to rely on Him fully;
these are HIS children. Cody
and I are attempting to fund raise to help pay for the costs of the adoption and the
surgeries, and we continue to see God
provide in all of our situations. It has
been humbling to ask for help, but we have been so blessed to see our friends and community embrace us. Please join Cody and me as we pray for the health and safety of
our babies in China while wait to welcome them safely into our arms.
